Arthur Lelièvre
Champagne
Arthur Lelièvre works out of Ludes, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims known primarily for Pinot Noir, giving his wines a different character from the Chardonnay-centric Côte des Blancs. His Prémices is a multi-village blend built around freshness and accessibility, while the single-terroir cuvées—Le Belai from Ludes Chardonnay and Le Walin from Lagery Pinot Noir—explore the distinct personality of individual plots. Lelièvre vinifies each parcel separately and makes decisions vineyard by vineyard, reflecting a grower's instinct for site specificity over house consistency. He also produces Coteaux Champenois, the rare still wine appellation of the Champagne region, using the same Pinot Noir vines to make a red that captures the flavor of Montagne de Reims fruit without effervescence. His work represents a thoughtful bridge between the Montagne's Pinot Noir heritage and a modern grower sensibility that prizes transparency and place.
