Clos Roussely
Loire Valley
Vincent Roussely farms in the Touraine, one of the Loire Valley's most diverse sub-regions, producing wines across an unusually wide stylistic spectrum—from conventional Sauvignon Blanc and pétillant-naturel sparklers to serious orange wines that have earned him significant attention in natural wine circles. His orange wine (Vin de France, Orange) is made from extended maceration of white grapes with their skins, producing a copper-colored wine of textural richness and oxidative complexity that pairs well with robust foods and charcuterie. The Favorite Sparkling is a lively, uncomplicated pétillant that showcases the Loire's natural effervescence potential from indigenous varieties. Roussely's Chenonceaux Blanc, named for the nearby Château de Chenonceau and made from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, represents a more structured expression of his white wine philosophy. Throughout the range, the farming is organic and the interventions minimal, with Roussely trusting his terroir and grapes to do most of the communicating. His wines represent excellent introductions to natural Loire winemaking at approachable prices.
