The Garrelière vineyards are located 8 kilometers from the city of Richelieu, south of the Touraine and the gates of Poitou, on a hill facing south. The 20 hectares of vineyards dominate the Valley Veude (small river) with a remarkable landscape, peaceful and harmonious. It is part of the Touraine appellation but its location the class apart.
On a clay and limestone base, flint clays, aeolian sands compose the ground. But the peculiarity of the area is a mosaic of land veins, a diversity of quality of clay and pebbles. The etymology of the word "Garrelière" comes from garre-gall-gal: stones in Old French and the place, the sky.
Made from 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Chardonnay. 30% of the Sauvignon Blanc spent some time in old oak barrels to provide additional complexity.
This red is made from a small plot of biodynamically-tended Cabernet Franc vines that are more than 25 years old. The wine is smooth and elegant and weighs in at 12.5% alcohol. Only minimal sulphur has been used.
