Domaine Jean Fournier

Burgundy

Laurent Fournier has transformed Domaine Jean Fournier into one of Marsannay's defining estates, championing the northernmost appellation of the Côte de Nuits with the same passion that more celebrated villages receive from their top producers. Farming organically and harvesting by hand, Fournier works with a range of Marsannay lieux-dits—including the Cuvée Saint Urbain and the prized Les Longeroies—that he vinifies separately to showcase Marsannay's often-underestimated terroir complexity. His Bourgogne Aligoté Champ Forey is a benchmark for the variety, combining the vibrancy of old vines with the freshness of a cooler vintage location. Fournier also produces a Gevrey-Chambertin that exemplifies the seriousness with which he approaches all of his wines: structured, age-worthy, and deeply expressive of the Côte de Nuits character. His commitment to organic farming and site-specific vinification has made the domaine a leader in the conversation about what Marsannay—long overshadowed by its southern neighbors—can achieve at its best.
