Domaine Patrick Hudelot

Burgundy

Patrick Hudelot farms in Villars-Fontaine, a hamlet tucked into the Hautes Côtes de Nuits above the main Côte d'Or escarpment, where cooler temperatures and different soils produce wines of freshness and value that are increasingly rare in modern Burgundy. He is the son of the celebrated Daniel Hudelot of Hudelot-Noëllat in Chambolle-Musigny, and while his wines occupy a humbler address, they carry the same commitment to careful farming and honest expression. His Bourgogne Aligoté is among the finest examples of that often-overlooked variety available at any price, while the three Hautes Côtes de Nuits cuvées—Les Colombières, Les Plançons, and Les Genevriéres—showcase distinct parcels with surprising personality and structure. These are wines that over-deliver significantly at their price point, representing an opportunity to explore Côte de Nuits terroir at a fraction of the cost of village or Premier Cru wines from the main slope. Hudelot's work is a quiet reminder that great Burgundy doesn't always require a famous address.
