Elisa Guérin
Beaujolais
The Guerin family farms in the Moulin-à-Vent and Chiroubles appellations, two of Beaujolais' most prized crus, producing wines that exemplify the depth and age-worthiness these specific terroirs can achieve. Moulin-à-Vent, perched on manganese-rich granite soils, is the cru most celebrated for producing Beaujolais that develops Burgundian characteristics with age—the Guerin's La Vigne de mon Père ("my father's vine") is sourced from a prized parcel of old vines that yields a wine of unusual concentration and structure. Chiroubles, by contrast, is one of the highest-elevation crus, and the Guerin expression captures that site's signature delicacy and perfume.
The Beaujolais Villages offers approachable everyday drinking from the broad swath of superior-quality villages surrounding the crus. Throughout the range, traditional whole-cluster Gamay vinification is employed, allowing the freshness and aromatic precision that define the family's style. These are wines made by people who have been farming the same land for generations.
