Jouves and Croisille

Cahors

Jouves and Croisille is a Cahors collaboration that produces accessible Malbec-dominant wines from the Lot River valley in Southwest France, one of the grape's oldest heartlands—predating by centuries its more famous reputation in Argentina. The Cahors J&C is the signature cuvée of the partnership, combining fruit from both families' holdings into an everyday drinking wine that captures the dark plum, tobacco, and iron-earth character that distinguishes Cahors Malbec (called Côt locally) from its New World counterpart. The Pur Jus steps up slightly in concentration and structure while maintaining the approachable character that makes these wines natural restaurant selections. Cahors is in the midst of a renaissance, with younger producers reclaiming the appellation's ancient identity as a serious, age-worthy wine region rather than a rustic alternative to Bordeaux. Jouves and Croisille's accessible pricing and honest winemaking place them at the forefront of that revival, making the appellation approachable for buyers not yet familiar with Cahors' distinctive character.
